Group Fitness.

The Ames Racquet and Fitness Center offer over 60 classes weekly at our south, north, and west class rooms.

Activate your life in only one hour! Feeling fitter, stronger and more alive has never been more achievable or more enjoyable! Incorporating all elements of fitness, Group Active will increase your cardio fitness, build your strength and improve your balance and flexibility.  It's perfect for the new or infrequent exerciser OR the one-stop-shopper.  Classes begin the week of September 8.  See you all there!

GROUP FITNESS CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

CARDIO

Cardio Strength- Efficient & Effective.  Get the most of your workout through cardiovascular and strength interval training.  Cardio will consist of step, high-low or kickbox.  Discover some knew sculpting techniques in the strength segments.   All Types

Cardio Cross Train-  This class may include  step, hi/low, interval, resist-a-ball, and strength segments to get a great workout.   Beginner-Intermediate

Kickbox- Be empowered with this martial arts based workout full of punches and kicks. This high- energy class incorporates explosive moves to enhance your cardio and muscular endurance. Beginner-Intermediate

Step-N-Sculpt- Burn….those calories. This intense workout incorporates step with strength training. All Types

Step I- An energy filled step workout with basic choreography. A great place to get started with using a step! All Types

Step Interval- Step & interval work to the max! Step combinations with energy boosting “blasts” to really bring you up. Intermediate

Power Step - An intense step class designed to keep you on your toes. Choreography all maxed out. Multi-bench and intervals may be incorporated.   Intermediate/Advanced

Hip Hop – Dance your way to fitness in this high-energy hip hop class.  Dance moves and patterns will be broken down separately for everybody to catch on!

Step Express - A blast of cardio uwing the step with fun patterns, intervals and lots of energy. All types

Cardio Dance - Get your groove on! This is an exciting aerobic class that incorporates several styles of dance while burning calories and toning the body.  No complex choreography to master, just fun dance moves in an easy to learn format.  All types.

Group Active: NEW! Feeling fitter, stronger and more alive has never been more achievable or more enjoyable!  Incorporating all elements of fitness, Group Active will increase your cardio fitness, build your strength and improve your balance and flexibility.  All types

Belly Dance Fit – Build your core and pelvic muscles, improve your flexibility and learn some new dance moves! All Types

CYCLING

Cycling- Mind over matter will spin you through this hour of hills, sprints, jumps and more, with guidance as to what levels and zones you should be in for optimal results. Get a great workout with little impact on your joints!  Heart rate monitors are available to help you reach your workout goals.  All Types

Cycle and Core -  A great cycling workout with abdominal work at the end of class. All Types

Strength

TBC (Total Body Conditioning) –This class focuses on strengthening and sculpting the body by using weights, tubing, resist-a-balls, and gliding disks. An effective way to increase your overall strength in a functional way!  A great class for all ages and abilities. All Types

Hard Core-The best moves that will shape and strengthen your abs and low back.  All Types

Group Power - A barbell program that strengthens all your major muscles in an inspiring, group environment with fantastic music. Simple, athletic movements such as squats, lunges and curls, this class is great for all ages and fitness levels. Class size is limited. All types.

MIND/BODY

Yoga- Gain strength, flexibility, and balance as you learn to unite mind, body, and breath. All Types

Restorative Yoga - Yoga with a focus on breathing, meditation and relaxation.

Yoga Strength- This class will synchronize proper breathing technique with movement into more challenging poses for enhancing strength. Intermediate

Yogalates-A merge of core emphasizing Pilates with balance and muscle enduring Yoga. The ultimate mind body connection. Intermediate

Pilates- Joseph Pilates developed exercises designed to improve flexibility, posture, and core strength. All Types

Fusion Fitness: A blend of yoga, Pilates and fitness conditioning that challenges strength, balance, flexibility and increases endurance and stamina.  All types.

AQUA

Aqua Fitness-Enhance your cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength and endurance, and flexibility all in one workout.  Experience the properties of the water and the freedom of movement in this great aqua workout for all levels. 

Strength & Power Aqua – Designed for individuals demanding high intensity training benefits including agility, speed, strength, and flexibility.  Great for fitness enthusiasts who want to continue to train for improved performance and decreased injuries in the off-season. All Types

All classes may include abdominal work and stretching at the end of class.
